I've also been working on the Illustris Matlab scripts on FreeBSD in Octave. They seem compatible. Octave is slower than the proprietary Matlab, but getting better and has tons of developers. Please donate. You can find more information about the Illustris project on their
website. I've always gotten my Matlab scripts and Objective-C files confused until I read on the internet just to rename the Objective-C extensions .mm. Also if you want to read why software should be free and open, you can read more
here at the FSF. According to gihub and O'Rilley media open source has won. You can get Windows source if you are a Microsoft MVP which I was nominated, but now not in good standing.
